CalSHAPE Funding Round Three Is Now Live!

CalSHAPE Funding Round Three Is Now Live!

funding

The California Schools Healthy Air Plumbing and Efficiency Program (CalSHAPE), also known as AB841, is a funding source designed, administered, and implemented by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to help highly-impacted schools fund plumbing and ventilation projects.

CalSHAPE includes two grant programs:

CalSHAPE Ventilation Program

The CalSHAPE Ventilation Program provides funding to local educational agencies for the costs of an HVAC assessment, general maintenance and adjustment, filter replacement, and carbon dioxide monitor installation.

CalSHAPE Plumbing Program

The CalSHAPE Plumbing Program provides grants to local educational agencies and state agencies to replace noncompliant plumbing fixtures and appliances that fail to meet water efficiency standards.

Funding round three began on June 21, 2022, with a priority eligibility application period.

Sites must be located in an “Underserved Community,” as defined in Chapter 1, Section E of the guidelines, or near a Title V facility or busy roadway, as described in PUC Section 1612, to be included in an application during the priority application period.

A publicly accessible web map tool tailored to CalSHAPE is available to assist Location Education Agencies (LEAs) in identifying the schools that meet the eligibility and priority requirements described above. The CalSHAPE Webmap Tool is available to LEAs solely as an informational resource because the CEC ultimately determines confirmation of eligibility for the CalSHAPE Program.

What are some important dates to keep in mind for round 3 funding*?
